Blog 10

1.   Review this.  Confirm by stating "I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ."

Essential Question
Once a topic is chosen, the student will develop a working essential question.  The purpose of the working essential question is to help the student build a strong foundation of research which will allow him or her to create an essential question that encourages depth and rigor in the chosen topic.  An essential question must:
  • Provide a framework for studies (It calls for breadth and depth of research, Is not a yes/no question)
  • Take a stance (It allows you to argue some point, Cannot be a recitation of facts or a list)
  •  Format (It is specific, The wording makes sense)
2.  Review the following EQs and
  • Tell us if each meets the rule of three.
  • Tell why they do or don't.
 a.  What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?

No the questions doesn't have any depth, you could find the answer online. You can't really take a stance. It isn't that specific.

 b.  What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?

Yes you can answer the question only through research. You can take a stance. The question is specific.

 c.  What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?

No the answer is basically opinion. You can't take a stance on this. This question is formatted but does not meet rule of three.

 d.  How can an anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?

Yes, could be found from time of research. Yes you could take a stance on this. This questions is perfectly formatted.

Blog 9 Reflection

What are you most proud of in your presentation and why?

I was proud that I was able to say all of the information I needed to say after the bad transition from hook to the introduction.

What assessment would you give yourself on your lesson 1 presentation?

I think i deserve an AP because the only think the only thing that could of docked me would be not turning in the final lesson plan on the correct date.

What worked for you in your lesson 1?

I think one thing I kind of did well was explaining my independent component are engaging the audience with a great hook.

What did't work?

During my hook it ran on longer than it was supposed to be and one of the answers from the audience kind of messed up my transition.

October Additional Blog

This month I was basically doing the same thing as last month during my volunteering I do have some schedule but it changes based on who is actually there. What I am doing that is something I want to point out is that I've been working on my independent component with my dad basically he has had multiple dogs when he was younger and he knows how to train them so basically I have been house training the dog. To be honest it is a lot easier than I thought because so far he the dog knows when to sit and knows not to go in the house. One thing that I am working on is trying to be more social with our cats so he doesn't get crazy in public

Blog 7 Independent Component

1)  Well my topic is Veterinarian and what veterinarians do is care for dogs or other animals. My brother recently got a puppy and I want to be able to take care of it as my independent component.

2) To meet the expectation I would have to do multiple things that have to tie in with the dogs health.
The first being feeding it right, another one the dog doesn't have all its shots yet so take the dog for its shots, after that I would be able take it into social areas like parts to get exercise and to teach it to become more social.

3) The way this whole thing would tie in with my senior project is. I would learn to take care of the dog and learn to keep it healthy. Again my senior topic is a Veterinarian and I think learning to care and keep the dog healthy helps with my senior project topic

September Additional Blog post

This month basically what was up to I was volunteering was I did small tasks like observe help the vet with small tasks like moving equipment and stuff like that, basically I am doing all the stuff all new people do when they enter a new environment. Also we are planning a schedule on what days to go in the only thing we need is to find the right time to work around each others schedules.

To clarify some possible questions I think that I would be doing more serious stuff around the time after my second interview just cause it will make the whole thing more serious. I wasn't able to get any pictures to show progression this month but there should be some next month with a possible webpage I might make around my project. I think that would be cool to add because I am taking the html elective and could show progression at the same time.

Blog 5 Mentor ship Research and reflection

 Mentor ship Research and Reflection

1. My experience when looking for a mentor is kind of difficult because when you meet someone and ask someone they don't really want to say no to you so they yes and later that person flakes on you leaving you looking for a last minute person. So my experience so far is difficult but I think I will get someone sooner or later.

2.The article that I found most useful so far was one about how social skills contribute to management. I am planning on using it this Friday for research check.

4) What I gained from the experience was on the floor where so many things are going on everyone is working individually but at the same time it looks like everyone is working together.

5) My senior topic is Managing/ Supervising a? The way I came to the conclusion to choose this topic was I have always thought managing something was interesting and this is the closest thing to managing.

Most of the questions I had were answered after watching all of the senior projects, but I wish they talked more about the components during the year and how it helped them.

3. What has the most important part of the senior project based on what you are seeing in the 2-hour presentations?

To me I think that the mentoring and the hours spent learning about the topic is what is the most important part of senior year.

4. What topic are you considering doing and why?

The Topic I am considering is probably has to do something with computer science because I have found that area of work interesting.

5. What are you doing for your summer mentorship?

For summer I think I might mentor at my dad's work with some of his employees because his job has to do at least something with technology and it wouldn't be totally different from my desired topic.
